GP’s Duty of Care Program Wins World Changing Ideas Award

On May 3, 2022, Channel partner the Global Press (GP) was recognized as part of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards. Out of over 1,000 companies, GPI was named one of 18 in the enduring impact category, which honors companies that have achieved incredible impact and have been in business more than 15 years. More specifically, this award honored GP’s Duty of Care program.

The Duty of Care program prioritizes the physical, digital, emotional, and legal security of local women journalists in some of the world’s most challenging places. The program’s trainings on physical and digital security ensure that reporters’ safety is prioritized both on the ground and online. Emotional security is addressed through the Global Press Wellness Network, a group of licensed mental health practitioners who provide free and unlimited counseling to GP reporters. Duty of Care fosters legal security through training that teaches reporters how to navigate press freedom specific to their community. By focusing on these forms of security, Duty of Care keeps GP reporters safe and healthy in a wide range of circumstances.
