Channel Grants:

2022 and 2023: Channel made general operating grants to WEDO to support its work as a global women’s advocacy organization for a just world that promotes and protects human rights, gender equality, and the integrity of the environment.

WEDO has two main objectives: (1) promoting women’s equal access to rights, opportunities, and resources within environmental justice movement, and (2) promoting women’s environmental leadership, while capturing learnings, significant change, successes, and challenges along the way.

WEDO carries out policy advocacy, communications and convenings and continues to “map out the feminist global climate justice agenda.” In addition, WEDO helps lead the Feminist Green New Deal Coalition, “the home for intersectional feminist climate advocacy,” as it “gather(s) gender and climate justice organizations, advocates and activists within the U.S. around shared global justice and feminist justice advocacy goals and activities.”

In February 2023 WEDO convened members of the Feminist Green New Deal Coalition for their first ever in-person meeting to craft a plan of action grounded in their core principles. The Feminist Green New Deal was created as an organizing space for intersectional #FeministClimateJustice advocacy around U.S. domestic and foreign policy, and U.S. movement-building. Together, the Coalition is building on momentum in the U.S. toward investing in national care infrastructure to produce landmark analysis & narrative building on the policy intersections between #CareWork & #ClimateJustice.

In fact the members of the Coalition continue to build campaigns on the advocacy priorities they have developed: 1) the care economy and labor, 2) bodily autonomy and health, and 3) economic justice.
